Al Jama' Al-Islamiya

Al Jama’a Al-Islamiya is an Egyptian Sunni Islamist movement who seeks to overthrow the Egyptian government and install a Muslim government. The group became active as an umbrella group for student militant groups in Egypt during the 1970s, seeking to restore Islam in the government. The group carried out a major terror campaign in the mid-1990s, killing more than 1,200 people in several major attacks.
