Muse Sudi Yalahow Militia

This is the militia of the warlord Muse Sadi Yalahow, who retained control over Mogadishu, Somalia until 2006 when the Islamic Courts Union drove them from the capital. The group was formed in 1991 and had been fighting with Mohammed Omar Habeb’s militia that was based in the Middle Shabelle region of Somalia. Yalahow’s militia was invited to be part of Somali reconciliation efforts as part of the Somali Reconciliation and Restoration Council.The goal of the militia was political power and territorial control, something that Yalahow himself has turned to Somalia’s federal government to achieve. Yalahow is now a member of the Somali parliament as the group as his militia ceased to exist.
