The Union of Communist Combatants (UdCC) was one of several offshoots of the Red Brigades, Italy's largest left-wing terrorist groups. The Union of Communist Combatants split from the main successor to the Red Brigades, the Red Brigades Fighting Communist Party (BR-PCC) in early 1986. The UdCC shared broad revolutionary goals with the BR and its other successors but differed with those groups over how the armed struggle should be conducted. UdCC's formation was the first split in the organization of the second half of the 1980s, and it would be the last as the Red Brigades and all of its offshoots had been broken up by law enforcement by 1988.
