Sinaloa Cartel

The Sinaloa Cartel is one of the most powerful and well-known drug trafficking organizations in the Western hemisphere. Formed after the breakup of the Guadalajara Cartel, the organization grew significantly under El Chapo until his arrest and extradition to the US in 2017. Since El Chapo’s departure from the organization's leadership, the Sinaloa Cartel has faced serious infighting. Some analysts even claim that it has lost its position as the strongest drug cartel in Mexico. However, it remains one of the largest and most professionalized international drug trafficking networks in the world.
