Red Barbagia

Red Barbagia (BarbRo) was a left-wing and separatist terrorist organization based on the Italian island of Sardinia. It sought to make Sardinia an independent communist state. Red Barbagia mostly attacked and killed Italian military police in line with its stated campaign against the "militarization" of the island. It had logistical and operational ties to the Red Brigades (BR), Italy's largest left-wing terrorist organization, and may have staged attacks on the BR's behalf. BarbRo dissolved in 1982 after a repentant former BR member led law enforcement to a BR arms cache being guarded by members of BarbRo.
