Nucleus of Communists (NdC) was one of two groups, along with Communists Organized for Proletarian Liberation (COLP), to split from Prima Linea (PL), the second-largest terrorist group in Italy, as the group began to decline due to increasing arrests. NdC and COLP broke off as the PL began to decline due to increasing arrests. Like the PL, NdC's primary aim was to liberate left-wing militants from prison. The group ended when all of its members were arrested in early 1983.
