The Ingush Jamaat began in 2000 by Ingush rebels who aimed to achieve independence from Russia. To achieve this goal the group collaborated with other prominent terrorist groups in the North Caucasus.The Ingush Jamaat’s most prominent attack was the Nazran Raid in 2004 led by rebel Shamil Basayev, who became an integral part of several terrorist organizations, including the Caucasus Emirate. The Ingush Jamaat, like other terrorist groups functioning out of the North Caucasus, became a member of the Caucasus Emirate upon its creation in 2007.
