Al Rashid Trust (ART) was founded in 1996 by Mufti Mohammad Rashid as a charity, and was subsequently linked to the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). It merged into Al Akhtar Trust in 2001, and was deemed a terrorist support group by the US Department of Treasury in the same year. ART operated twenty-one branches across Pakistan, actively raised funds for jihadi activities in Chechnya, Kosovo, and Afghanistan, and published English and Urdu newspapers, Dharb-e-Momin and Zarb-e-Momin, respectively. As of 2010, the United Nations, Government of Pakistan, United States Department of Treasury and Interpol list ART as a terrorist group.
